Lexi Raises SEK 3.3M in Oversubscribed Funding Round

Company expanding operations due to increased OEM adoption rate
of Lexi’s AI-driven SaaS solution for data-driven procurement

Stockholm, 20th November 2020 – Supply chain data analytics software leader Lexi Solution AB today announced it has completed a SEK 3.3 million financing round.  The round was heavily oversubscribed, with strong participation from existing Lexi shareholders as well as several new investors.

Lexi helps global enterprises improve gross margins by reducing direct material costs and avoiding supply disruptions by building robust, resilient supply chains.  Lexi’s AI-driven SaaS solution scrubs its customers’ costed bills of material and product cost structure to ensure that all master material data is clean, correct, complete, and current, then provides digital tools to derive business intelligence and drive dramatic cost and risk reduction not otherwise possible with conventional methods.

According to Robert Sawyer, CEO of Lexi Solution, “2020 has been a breakthrough year for Lexi, despite the challenging market conditions, as our cloud platform is being ever more widely adopted as a powerful tool to help OEMs reduce their direct material costs, especially in their EMS (electronics manufacturing services) spend.  2020 has also been a year where supply chain disruptions, whether due to pandemic or tariffs or other trade issues, have made it an urgent priority for many companies to find and remove risk from complex supply chains.  Lexi’s SaaS solution is helping OEMs accelerate their digital transformation in supply chain management so they can adapt and emerge stronger, despite the challenges.”

Proceeds from this limited funding round will be used to fund expansion of Lexi’s data science and customer onboarding teams in Malaysia and Sweden to meet this rising demand for Lexi’s platform, including due to a large new project just launching this quarter with a leading global OEM – Lexi’s biggest subscription ever.

Lexi continues to develop additional powerful functionality in its platform, based on demand from its customers, including the recently announced new application for design-to-source analytics for new product cost estimation, called E*BOM.  With its expansion of its teams in Asia and Europe funded by this small round, Lexi is laying the groundwork for a much larger Series A round planned for Spring 2021.

Lexi launches E*BOM, a design-to-cost intelligence tool

Lexi Solution AB announces major extension to the Lexi Cloud System

Stockholm, 12th November 2020 – Lexi announced today the release of E*BOM, a new engineering-focused extension to its SaaS platform for data-driven sourcing and procurement for electronics OEMs.

E*BOM is a powerful cloud-based application for new product design and NPI teams to quickly and accurately perform should-cost analytics on PCBAs (printed circuit board assemblies) early in design cycles.  The tool also helps R&D and Procurement teams align at the point of design and powers data-driven design innovation in component selection, optimising for cost while also ensuring minimized risk of downstream supply disruptions.

E*BOM also helps drive shorter time-to-market (TTM) design cycles and helps R&D hit design-to-cost (DTC) targets with quick design spins based on real market data and BOM health analytics, ensuring new products are designed upfront with components that support a robust and resilient supply chain strategy for the full product lifecycle.

E*BOM is available as a standalone tool or as an extension to Lexi’s existing MasterBOM platform already in widespread use by leading global OEMs for their products with electronic content.

Several of Lexi´s customersincluding Husqvarna, ABB, and Kiekert have already been usingE*BOM for some time, with great results and high satisfaction with usability.

James Clark, ABB Robotics Global Category Leader, Electronics, is delighted with the results delivered by E*BOM for many new Robotics products already this year:  “Lexi’s platform – along with the close collaboration and support of the Lexi teams in Sweden and Malaysia – have helped us efficiently collaborate with our colleagues in R&D, resulting in an optimized concept design and supply chain set-up for new products. We’re just scratching the surface of what’s possible so far, and we look forward to expanding the application of these digital tools.”

Lexi’s proven AI-driven BOM scrubbing software uses machine learning and the know-how that Lexi hasdeveloped over nearly ten years of working with leading OEMs.  Lexi’s process cleans, corrects, completes, categorizes and harmonizes all component data, ensuring that all data is 100% accurate and up-to-date.

Building on that clean data, Lexi then enriches it with hundreds of additional searchable parameter data – technical, component life, compliance, origin, etc.  MasterBOM then applies Lexi’s PICI process for structured cost reduction, driving a “savings funnel” in stages through Potential, Identified, Confirmed and finally Implemented to ensure no savings opportunities are missed.

E*BOM – a powerful new cost estimation tool for R&D, NPI and Procurement teams to collaborate in bringing new products to market faster, designed to cost with a resilient supply chain.

Lexi Raises SEK 3.8M in Over-Subscribed Funding Round

Recently Completed Funding Round Increases Momentum for Data-Driven Procurement Platform Using Machine Learning to Save OEMs up to Millions of Dollars in Product Costs

Stockholm, 21st May 2019 – Supply chain data analytics software startup Lexi Solution AB today announced it has raised SEK 3.8 million in additional funding for its mission to provide breakthrough AI and cloud data processing software services to meet the exploding data demands of the electronics industry.

The latest backing for the technology platform, which delivers huge cost savings, risk reduction and supply chain transparency for Lexi’s OEM customers, comes from strong participation from existing shareholders as well as from several new investors, including, for the first time, investors from outside Sweden, in Austria and Asia. Total funding to date amounts to SEK 25 million.

“Data-driven insights enabled by AI will be key to innovation in the management of global supply chains, which have become simply too huge, complex and dynamic to manage with traditional tools. In many ways, where Lexi is today, with its AI-powered big data analytics for supply chains, is reminiscent of where CRM was in the early 1990s.  Lexi is a unique disrupter in this industry, and I am very pleased to take the opportunity to jump onboard now,” says Daniel S. McKinney, a seasoned investment professional in the software industry who has chosen to make a major contribution in this Lexi share issue.

Peter Röing, Lexi’s Founder & CTO says, “Winning the support of our distinguished circle of investors is further validation of our vision to fully enable data-driven procurement via our scalable AI applications for the electronics manufacturing industry and make ‘predictive COGS’ possible. With this investment we will be able to accelerate our execution on several new, signed customer contracts and invest in resources needed to capitalize on the growing customer funnel.  We will now move forward with our plan to bring onboard an international leader as the new CEO of Lexi to take us forward with our global expansion – details to be announced soon!”

Maximizing Cost Savings, Minimizing Risk
Historically, manufacturers have struggled to attain end-to-end supply chain visibility as 80 percent of the data needed to successfully manage global supply chains exists outside their organizations. Lexi solves this problem by ingesting 100 percent of the data and then, using a combination of machine learning and human expertise, identifies and monitors the most relevant details and actions for lowering costs and improving supply chain health. On average, Lexi’s customers have cut Bill of Materials (BOM) costs by more than five percent, which translates into hundreds of thousands – and in some cases, up to millions of dollars – in total product cost savings.

Lexi accomplishes this by continuously harvesting terabytes of structured and unstructured data about components and parts from hundreds of public and private sources, including the customer’s own electronics manufacturing services (EMS) subcontractors, distributors and component manufacturers. Once Lexi uploads its customers’ costed bills of material (CBOMs) into its big data platform, Lexi’s AI engine then automatically harmonizes, cleans, corrects and classifies the data by part type, category, cost, lead-time, lifecycle status, compliance – any of hundreds of attributes that Lexi applies to characterize each part.

Lexi’s resulting dataset of “golden data” expands continuously and opportunistically to enable predictive and prescriptive analytics as well as to produce authenticated, meaningful supply chain insights that generate long-term, sustainable results that drop straight to its OEM customers’ bottom lines

Lexi is helping an ever-increasing roster of customers reap greater value from their supply chains, including ABB, ASSA ABLOY, Getinge, Husqvarna, Parker Hannifin and Volvo Trucks, among many others.
